Meet the Turkeys

  • Felix

    Birthday: October 2020

    Rescued: June 2021

Felix came to PEAK in the summer of 2021 with Willow and Oscar. The trio was rescued from the devastating fire at a neighbor’s property.

As soon as Felix and Oscar arrived, they were attached at the proverbial hip, thus their fitting names! Though it took them some time to settle in, both have quickly become chatty, engaging, and curious about everything going on at PEAK. Felix is the larger of the pair and definitely the ringleader, always in search of the next adventure or snack!

  • Lily

    Birthday: October 2018

    Rescued: February 2019

Lily was found on the side of the road, lying in the snow, after escaping the transport truck hauling her to ‘slaughter.’ Lily was very sick and traumatized, not to mention crawling with parasites. (Remember, Lily was about to enter the “food chain.”)

At PEAK, Lily gets lots of exercise and healthy foods. Lily has a BIG personality and is curious about everything! She really enjoys sunbathing, dust bathing and listening to music. Lily loves to spend time with the roosters and explore the property. Her zest for life and strong opinions earned her the nickname “Boss Lady.” Lily keeps us all in line!

  • Oscar

    Birthday: October 2020

    Rescued: June 2021

Oscar came to PEAK in the summer of 2021 with Willow and Felix.

Oscar is the smaller of the two turkey toms but don’t let that fool you–he has just as much to say as his best friend!

  • Taffy

    Birthday: April 2018

    Rescued: April 2019

We contacted Farm Sanctuary to ask some questions about turkeys in March 2019 and they told us about Taffy. Taffy had been with them for about 6 weeks and Farm Sanctuary thought Taffy might enjoy a smaller Sanctuary. We agreed it would be best for Taffy to come to PEAK because we were already hoping to find a companion for Lily who could speak her same language.

Taffy took her time settling into her new life. She is very vocal and inquisitive and dust bathes almost every day! Taffy enjoys cracked corn and millet. She was born with curly toes (all of them, on both feet). This condition doesn’t slow her down in the least and she perches just fine. Taffy enjoys sitting near humans and being petted, too. Her closest friend is Willow–the two are nearly inseparable and share a deep bond.

  • Willow

    Birthday: October 2020

    Rescued: June 2021

Willow came to PEAK in the summer of 2021. She was rescued from a neighbor’s property that had burned down, a tragic hoarding situation that ended in devastation. Willow was covered in ash but luckily not injured from the fire, though she did have some other issues that were the result of neglect.

After weeks of care, fresh food and water, and wide-open pasture to explore, Willow grew more comfortable with the other residents and her human caregivers. She is still fairly shy but grows in confidence every day. Willow has developed a deep bond with Taffy; the two turkeys are the best of friends!
