Kristen Board

Director

Kristen joined the board in October 2022. She was born and raised in northern California and moved to Indiana in 2020 with her husband. She first became a vegetarian as a high school student and transitioned to veganism in more recent years. Kristen has an undergraduate degree in canine behavior and works as a behavior consultant for dogs and cats.

Kristen has always had a passion for animals and has volunteered with different animal-focused nonprofit organizations. In 2019, when Kristen was working as the Behavior Coordinator at a local animal shelter, she first began working with traditionally ‘farmed’ animals who were in the shelter’s care. She worked to improve their quality of life by adding enrichment activities to the shelter’s habitats for the chickens, ducks, and pigs.

In 2021, Kristen completed a Master’s Degree in humane education. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband and their several rescue animals: two dogs, a cat, and a few hens. When she is not working one-on-one to help people and their companion animals have a more positive relationship, you will find her hiking with her dogs, baking dessert, or creating new toys and activities for all of her companion animals.
