Meet the Goats

  • Benny

    Birthday: January 2015

    Rescued: July 2015

Benny escaped ‘slaughter’ and was roaming a large forest in Kentucky, alone, for over a week. Since coming home to PEAK at just 6 months old, Benny has become a very strong and healthy boy!

The gentle leader of his goat herd, Benny is one of the most laid back and chill residents at PEAK. He loves a nice gentle head and face rub. Benny is very loving and also likes to climb and jump. Benny is close with Twiggy and can be found sleeping near his pig friends at times, too. Benny is the tallest goat at PEAK and loves to show off his height and agility by reaching the tallest tree branches.

Benny keeps the peace among his friends in a variety of ways. Member of the goat herd, William, can be a handful at times. Often when a new visitor enters their pasture, Benny stands near the newcomer, communicating to William that funny business will be kept to a minimum!

  • George

    Birthday: February 2010

    Rescued: September 2016

George is a pygmy goat and the oldest member of our goat herd. He came to PEAK after we received a call that he was abandoned and left tethered in someone’s front yard. George experienced quite a bit of change and uncertainty in his younger years; we’re happy he has the opportunity to become secure in a herd of goat friends. He loves to spend time with all of his buddies; Twiggy and Pan are his closest friends.

George has the most adorable bleat! He can be found on a sunny afternoon napping, totally relaxed and content. George is very sweet with humans but likes to make sure it is on his terms, which is absolutely fine with us. As a senior member of the PEAK family, his daily routine includes a regimen of medications to help with his arthritis.

  • Nemo

    Birthday: April 2014

    Rescued: May 2015

In the dictionary, next to the term “food motivated” you’ll find Nemo’s picture!

Nemo was found in filthy conditions laying on a barn floor, unable to stand on her own. It was a long road to recovery, but Nemo has an incredible will to live. She came home to PEAK once she was able to walk again, and strong enough for the move. Nemo is affectionate and will give kisses and hugs!

Everything comes second to her love of food. While Nemo hangs out with all the goats, she is quite a bit smaller than most of the other goats, and often seeks out alone time. Nemo has gained so much strength and confidence since coming to PEAK, often finding ways to get into whichever pasture wants to be in at the time. We love Nemo’s sweet and mischievous spirit!

  • Pan

    Birthday: May 2016

    Rescued: May 2019

Pan was rescued by a woman named Katherine Hunt who saw him tied to a tire in an open field without shelter, water, or hay. His hooves were terribly overgrown. Thanks to Katherine, Pan was surrendered and he is now able to live the life he deserves!

Pan is extremely social, playful, and very vocal! It took him a bit of time to get adjusted to living with the rest of our herd, but he is now happily a part of the family and loves to spend the day playing and grazing with his friends. His closest friend is George. Pan loves to get scratches on his head and to jump and run playfully. No matter the weather, Pan can often be found grazing happily in his large field.

  • Twiggy

    Birthday: June 2010

    Rescued: June 2014

Twiggy was rescued from a terrible cruelty situation in Salem, Indiana where he had been confined to a stall for well over a year. As you can imagine, it took some time for Twiggy to heal both emotionally and physically.

Twiggy’s strength and resilience have been beautiful to witness. Twiggy can be a little persistent when it comes to food (join the club!). His best friends are George and Benny; the trio love to play and lay in the sun together. Twiggy is a curious goat and, if he trusts you, he will let you scratch his head. Twiggy is very smart and curious. When it’s chilly, he might be found snuggling with some of his pig friends in their straw bed to keep warm.

  • William

    Birthday: November 2013

    Rescued: May 2014

William is a pygmy goat mix and a legend in his own time.

Prior to coming home to PEAK, William was treated like a “mascot” in an urban area–a very stressful life for a goat. He has some behavioral issues due to this mistreatment and has come a long way. Having friends, plenty of space, and calm surroundings have made all the difference. Visitors often comment on William’s striking eyes–he is truly a beautiful individual in every way! William is playful, curious, and loves attention. When he wants to be noticed, he’ll usually head butt something that makes a lot of noise. William is magnificent and he knows it!
