PEAK is a small sanctuary that has been in operation for  four years. We are smack dab in the middle of concentrated animal agriculture. We are a volunteer run organization including the Co-Founders.

Our internship will provide an individual with a meaningful educational experience; to care for and connect with rescued farmed animals, work side-by-side with the co-founders, and be a part of a compassionate community. Additionally, individuals will be a vital part of moving PEAK’s mission and vision forward.

Sanctuary Assistant Intern 

This position is onsite only and has a 35 hour workweek.


  • Animal feeding and watering
  • Stall and habitat cleaning and enrichment
  • Assisting with animal health checks
  • Animal monitoring for special needs animals
  • Assist with property management; compost, mowing and/or weed eating
  • Provide administrative support to Co-Founders
  • Other outreach and support tasks as needed
  • Special building care projects as they arise


  • Ability to work in ALL weather conditions
  • Sharp observation and animal behavior skills.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and lifting
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions and follow-through with animal care schedule
  • Strong computer skills
  • Outstanding work ethic
  • Willingness and flexibility to various tasks and schedule changes

  • All applicants must be 18 years of age or older
  • Interns are required to be vegan while on the Sanctuary grounds. No use of products or bi-products that come from an animal. This includes; meat, dairy, eggs, honey, leather, wool, etc
  • Weekends and holidays may be required – a weekly schedules can be agreed upon in advance
  • Two to three month commitment required
  • Volunteer commitment of 35 hours per week


  • Acquiring in-depth knowledge of farmed animal care
  • Interacting  and connecting with shelter animal residents
  • Working with like-minded and committed activists
  • Contributing to rescuing and making a difference for farmed animals

  • We are located in Salem, Indiana about 45 min NW of Louisville and 15 mins from town
  • Access to  15+acres of woods with a  full of a variety of wild life
Development Intern

This is a remote position, but requires a minimum of two shifts per month onsite.


  • Donor development (mailings, calls, donor acknowledgement, reaching out to business and individuals)
  • Acquiring new donors, reaching out to lapsed donors, and retaining current donors.
  • Securing in-kind donations for fundraisers
  • Staff on-site and offsite events
  • Assist Founders as needed

Ideal Candidate:

  • Development and/or fundraising experience (education will be considered in lieu of experience)
  • Ability to prioritize and time management are essential
  • Adept at Microsoft Excel and Word, CRM  experience a plus
  • Knowledge and passion of animal rights issues and veganism
  • Self-Starter
  • Outstanding communication and listening skills (oral and written)
  • Telecommuting (2 shifts/month must be onsite)


Communication/Outreach Intern – telecommute, or onsite. (20 hours/week)
This internship can be onsite, or remote.


  • Will help with social media such as Facebook Live and Instagram.
  • Contribute to and assist with newsletter.
  • Provide copy and assist with website.
  • Communicate with volunteers concerning outreach events.


  • Adept at Microsoft Excel and Word, CRM  experience a plus.
  • Self motivated and able to work remotely with supervision.
  • Outstanding communication and listening skills (oral and written).
  • Knowledge and passion for animal rights issues.
  • Knowledge of a variety of social media platforms.
